THINGS TO DO & PLACES TO EAT

There are tons of things to do in the Bay Area and the Stanford Park Hotel is right in the heart of good food and great places to visit.  Please see below for links to spots to grab a bite as well as some fun places to see while you're in town.

THINGS TO DO

STANFORD UNIVERSITY
Stanford University is, well, you've all heard of it.  It's historic architecture dates back to 1891 and the Memorial Church is one of the more particularly beautiful spots on the campus that honors all denominations and faiths.

The Cantor Arts Center (an outdoor sculpture garden) houses one of the largest collections of work by Auguste Rodin outside of Paris.

    STANFORD SHOPPING CENTER

    HIKING & OUTDOOR RUNNING TRAILS
The Dish, a radiotelescope that's still in use, is a landmark of sorts that you can spot from Highway 280.  It also happens to be a great place to go for a hike/walk or a run with various loops totaling 3.3 miles, 5 miles or 7 miles and can get you some great views of the Bay Area.  It's hilly!  For more information, check out some directions and tips from the Stanford Running Club:

Wunderlich County Park is also a stunningly beautiful, wooded property with gorgeous hiking trails, views, and lots of horses.  A lovely spot if it's hot out because there's lots of shade, too.  One of Molly's favorite places to go for a run or hike.

Please note you'll need a car to get to both of those spots.

    OLD MOVIES
Catch an old movie in a beautiful theatre at the Stanford Theatre in downtown Palo Alto.  They still have an old wurlitzer organ that plays before every showing!

    SAN FRANCISCO

    WHERE'S THE GRUB AT?

University Avenue in Palo Alto (walking distance from the hotel) is the main drag in townThere are tons of great places around to fill your tummies.

    PENINSULA CREAMERY
Molly and Larkin clocked in quite a few hours at this classic establishment, eating french fries and milk shakes (mint chip is the best).  Classic all American diner food and delicious burgers (and did we mention the milkshakes??).  They've got 2 spots now:

    PHILZ COFFEE
The best coffee.  So good.  So good.  Also walkable from the hotel.

    PLUTO'S
Pluto's is a great spot and isn't too spendy.  Very casual, lots of fresh veggies, and a build-your-own meal kind of place.

    SANCHO'S TAQUERIA
Great tacos and guacamole.  Welcome to California, East Coasters, where we have yummy avacados aplenty!
